It only has 58k miles. While driving on the freeway or highway, the Overdrive starts to go in and out; downshifting and upshifting willy nilly. It has a manual button for turning off the Overdrive and when I do this, it stops jerking and drives smooth. But, of course, this effects the gas mileage significantly. I took the Minnie to a garage recommended by the company I purchased the Minnie from. They replaced the manual Overdrive switch and replaced the transmission with a rebuilt Ford transmission.

I have a problem with my truck kicking out of over drive once I hit a speed of about 50 mph. It will give a sudden jerk and kick out. If I were to shut the truck off and restart it it will go back into overdrive but reappear at around 50 mph again until it has warmed up. Do you. I'm not a tranny expert, but two things it looks at are the throttle position sensor and the brake switch.

Sorry If this topic has been addressed elsewhere but I have been unable to locate anything relevant. I have a Dodge truck with 5. All stock no chips- no previous mods -very little towing one hand times to haul cattle.

GuruCSTS3 answered 6 months ago. My 02 has done this and replacing the throttle position sensor took care of it. FYI-I tried replacing with local autoparts brand and the first one lasted about 6 months so I replaced it under warranty and with the new one in the truck wouldnt start. Ended up just getting one from dealership. My 98 dodge ram van slips in and out of overdrive at 50 mph how do i fix that problem.
