Pumpkin patches are full of children picking just the right pumpkin. While God certainly uses those things to reach people, is this what Jesus meant when he sent out his disciples in this passage? In looking at the workers Jesus is sending out, a lot more than sharing words with others seems to be going on. Luke seems to present entire worlds—or Kingdoms—crashing together. The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of this World. And what characteristics does this Kingdom exhibit?

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! Of course Jesus is speaking about people.

These words by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ have been on my mind lately. The Harvest He is speaking of is quite literally His Return, the moment every Christian looks forward too. However, before His Return we are told the world will be filled with sin, and right would be turned into wrong, Isaiah As the days pass by, we see these events come to pass, but I feel many Christians have become discouraged by them and have simply given up. It is during the hour we now find ourselves in that we must make the greatest stand for God that we ever have. Though it may seem like the world is coming down on you and your beliefs, we, the laborers will not shelter down and close our doors.

Then said he to his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;. Matthew Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:.
