North Carolina homeowners Deena Murphy and Tim Sullivan have settled a lawsuit against the producer and contractor of the popular home remodeling show, "Love It or List It. Although the show was originally launched in Canada, Producer Big Coat TV set up operations in the fast-growing Triangle area in in order to appeal to a wider American audience. Chatham County homeowners Murphy and Sullivan applied and were selected to appear on a show that aired in early , but disputes arose over the renovations of a house they owned in Raleigh see photo at left. After news of the lawsuit became widely reported in national media, the defendants countersued for alleged libel, slander and product disparagement. Following a ruling against them on portions of the counterclaim, the defendants in November filed an appeal with the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
