On Tuesday, January 24th at 10 a. Department of Health and Human Services will be the keynote speaker and welcome the attendees. The conference focuses on multi-disciplinary best-practice efforts to prevent, investigate, treat and prosecute child and family maltreatment including child abduction. The objective is to develop and enhance professional skills and knowledge in the prevention, recognition, investigation, assessment, prosecution and treatment of all forms of maltreatment. Leadership and policy making and translating the latest research into action are also addressed. There will be more than workshops that vary in topics from medicine, criminal investigation, mental health treatment, trauma therapy, child welfare, prevention, domestic violence, forensic interviewing, research, child abduction, child sexual exploitation and internet crimes against children. That will translate into improved outcomes of abused and traumatized children and their families on six continents and in our own backyard.

Continuing education credit is offered to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, psychologists, certified counselors, social workers, marriage-family therapists, drug and alcohol abuse counselors, attorneys, law enforcement personnel and play therapists. Accreditations are being submitted for renewal. Continuing education credits may be obtained by attending Sunday and Monday Preconference Trainings. The conference has been carefully developed to meet the learning and networking needs of those professionals whether new to field or seasoned veterans. The variety of the program allows you to develop your own learning experience that meets your specific needs. Sessions are arranged in tracks of core and advanced medical, mental health, forensic interviewing, investigations, legal, child welfare, domestic violence, military families, prevention, infant and early childhood, research and global perspectives topics.
